About Me
Leslie Dantchik M.S.
As far back as I can remember I too have experienced the
highs and lows regarding my own appearance and weight. You name it... I tried
it! Which probably encompassed practically every fad diet on the market. I
looked for the quick fix, the easy way, and searched endlessly to the one thing
would make me perfect. After many years of being on this unhealthy
rollercoaster ride, I did a lot of soul searching. In all honesty, it took a few
years, and a lot of help from a multitude of people. But in the end, I embraced
this newfound freedom by deciding to turn my "obsession" of food and
exercise into a career. Coming from graphic design, this was not easy. I
started over, went back to school and I finally achieved my goal by obtaining
my Masters in Applied Physiology and Nutrition from Teachers College at
Columbia University.
Combined with my own self-journey and growing knowledge in this ever-changing field, the basis of my philosophy is simple...Moderation NOT deprivation! I stress to my clients, as well as friends and family, to feel the same way. I consider myself a nutrition coach rather than a counselor because I provide the confidence they need to change their unhealthy habits by teaching strategies of how to follow the path that suits their own individual lifestyle in achieving their goals.
My love of cooking and meal planning led to contributions to the recently released books: Stop Aging, Start Living: The Revolutionary 2-Week pH Diet that Erases Wrinkles, Beautifies Skin and Makes You Feel Fantastic by Dr. Jeannette Graf and Alisa Bowman and Prevention's 3-2-1 Weight Loss Plan: Eat Your Favorite Foods to Cut Cravings, Improve Energy, and Lose Weight by Joy Bauer. Other media includes TV appearances on local New York news stations as a nutrition expert.
Always keep in mind that we are not a one size fits all society. As I have learned first hand, you are not going to be perfect 100% of the time. My journey is far from over, and I can't wait to take you with me every step of the way!
